Painting figures from life is my passion. I create and interpret the model, not only with my eyes, but from my psyche, soul-subconscious. Expressed with a variety of bold colors, the figure becomes sublime with the appropriate setting.
First, I select a canvas which has been prepared with a somber color or may prefer a previously unfinished painting. Secondly, a limited color palette is selected upon viewing the model. I prefer painting from live models, which enables me to capture the essence of the person. Then slipping on surgical rubber gloves, I apply the paint with large brushes, or use my fingers and hand for the desired effect Kokoshka, with his wild strokes and Mattise with his vibrant color have had a great influence on my paintings.
My abstractions are my disciplinary forms of painting A meaningful composition attracts me, organizing shapes and colors with paper cut-outs, re-arranging the paper many times I then set-up a very light toned canvas, painting the artistic creation onto the canvas. The painting then produces an image which generates a literary fabrication for the viewer.
